The numbers are staggering. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), almost 19 million people in the United States have been diagnosed with the disease but another seven million people have undiagnosed diabetes.<\/p>\n
Helping spread awareness of diabetes prevention and symptoms was an important goal of \u201cHealthy Steps,\u201d a week of activities conducted in February 2011 by Future Business Leaders of America\u2013Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL), a student organization in the College of Business Administration at Florida International University (FIU).<\/p>\n
\u201cEach year we have a community service project, and this year our chapter voted to direct our efforts toward communication and fundraising for ADA,\u201d said Iris Curtis<\/strong>, vice president, community service.<\/p>\n
