Department of Decision Sciences and Information Systems<\/em><\/p>\n Nancy Borkowski<\/strong>, clinical associate professor and director of health management programs, appeared as a panelist on WPBT2\u2019s Issues<\/em>. The roundtable public affairs program focused on the future of Jackson Health System.<\/p>\n Kaushik Dutta<\/strong>, associate professor and Debra VanderMeer<\/strong>, assistant professor, have had their article \u201cSOA Performance Enhancement through XML Fragment Caching\u201d accepted for publication by Information Systems Research<\/em>, a journal in the UT-Dallas list.<\/p>\n Department of Finance and Real Estate<\/em><\/p>\n Brice Dupoyet<\/strong>, associate professor, has been appointed to the Florida International Bankers\u2019 Association (FIBA) Professorship for three years. As a FIBA professor, he will continue to conduct research and teach courses in the field and serve actively in the academic community. He also will be the college\u2019s liaison to FIBA and will both attend and participate in that organization\u2019s professional and social functions.<\/p>\n Research by Ken H. Johnson<\/strong>, associate professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, was featured in a special report on property<\/a>, published in The Economist<\/em>. His co-authored study, \u201cLessons from Over 30 Years of Buy versus Rent Decisions: Is the American Dream Always Wise?,\u201d will be published in a forthcoming issue of Real Estate Economics.<\/em><\/p>\n Suchismita Mishra<\/strong>, associate professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, has been elected as a director for the Eastern Finance Association. She will officially assume the position immediately following the organization\u2019s annual meeting.<\/p>\n Arun Prakash<\/strong>, Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, has been chosen to receive the first annual \u201cUGS Provost Award for Mentorship of Graduate Students.\u201d He was informed that his \u201cmentoring activities demonstrate your profound dedication to mentoring of FIU\u2019s graduate students.\u201d<\/p>\n Department of Management and International Business<\/em><\/p>\n An article titled \u201cThe Lure of Brazilian Agriculture\u201d by Jerry <\/strong>Haar<\/strong>, associate dean for international affairs and projects, professor and research fellow, appeared in LatinBusinessChronicle.com. He was also quoted extensively in an article titled \u201cInternational trade likely to flow faster after major recovery<\/a>\u201d in Miami Today<\/em>.<\/p>\n Research by Nathan Hiller<\/strong>, assistant professor and faculty director of FIU\u2019s Center for Leadership High Potential Program, was quoted extensively in an article titled \u201cTips for Developing High-Potential Talent\u201d in FoxBusiness.com and in a segment on FoxNews.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n Dileep Rao<\/strong>, clinical professor and author of Bootstrap to Billions<\/em>, received the \u201cIEEE-USA Entrepreneur Achievement Award\u201d at the IEEE-USA annual meeting in Austin, Texas. He was recognized for his \u201cfor contributions in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation and development of future engineering businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n
