Elam, executive dean, who welcomed the group and spoke about the college\u2019s vision for the future and the role alumni can play in turning that vision into reality.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12215\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12215\" style=\"width: 198px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/tn_CoffeeClubJoyce.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12215\" title=\"tn_CoffeeClubJoyce\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/tn_CoffeeClubJoyce.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12215\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Joyce J. Elam spoke to the group.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to Michelle Joubert (MBA \u201910), assistant director, advancement, alumni and corporate relations, the event gave alumni an opportunity to connect with Dean Elam, tour the business building on the Florida International University (FIU) campus and learn about more ways to become involved with one of the many <a href=\"http:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/alumni\/index.cfm\">alumni groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from the Business Alumni Chapter, Accounting Alumni Council, Real Estate Alumni Affinity Council and Chapman Executive Women\u2019s Association attended the coffee club gathering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had an overwhelming response to this fun, informative event,\u201d Joubert said. \u201cBetter still, it helped us fill several open alumni board positions.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12216\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12216\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/tn_CoffeeClubGroup.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12216\" title=\"tn_CoffeeClubGroup\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/tn_CoffeeClubGroup.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12216\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Turnout for the event was high, with representatives from four separate business alumni groups attending.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Alumni fuel the future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Michael Arguez (BBA \u201909), vice president, Business Alumni Chapter, sees the Alumni Coffee Club as a great way to share with the alumni community the incredible rate of expansion and innovation the college has recently experienced despite the stagnant economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDean Elam has done an incredible job in building and strengthening the quality and reputation of the college within our community and at the national and international level,\u201d Arguez said.<\/p>\n<p>He believes alumni play an increasingly significant role in the college\u2019s ongoing success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe highly motivated and determined Business Alumni Chapter Executive Board continues to assist members\u2019 professional development, while focusing on building a stronger, united alumni base,\u201d Arguez said. \u201cWe can reinforce our presence in today\u2019s competitive market by connecting more than 42,000 business alumni and encouraging lasting business relationships and friendships.
