School of Accounting<\/em><\/p>\n Wendy Gelman has been promoted to senior instructor.<\/p>\n Department of Marketing<\/em><\/p>\n Two articles by John Tsalikis, BMI associate professor of marketing, will be included in a 2012 30th<\/sup> anniversary commemorative issue of The Journal of Business Ethics<\/em>, the leading academic publication in the area of business ethics. The 50 selections were based on the number of times the article has been referenced in other articles. Tsalikis is one of only five authors who have more than one article appearing in the commemorative issue.<\/p>\n Tim Dugan Birrittella was promoted to senior instructor.<\/p>\n Department of Finance and Real Estate<\/em><\/p>\n Deanne Butchey, senior lecturer, was quoted in an article titled \u201cMore women than men seek help with personal debt, credit counselors find,\u201d which appeared in the Orlando Sentinel<\/em> on July 21, 2011.<\/p>\n William Hardin, professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, was quoted in an article titled \u201cWith stock market drop, council president tells town manager to find savings for 2012-13,\u201d which appeared in the Palm Beach Daily News<\/em> on August 9, 2011. He also was interviewed on WLRN on August 10, 2011.<\/p>\n Ken H. Johnson, associate professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, wrote an entry for the KCM Blog titled \u201cA Rose By Any Other Name . . . Might Be Worth More\u201d on August 3, 2011. Also, he was referenced or quoted in several articles: on August 5, 2011, he was cited in \u201cHome ownership hits lowest level since 1965\u201d on CNN Money and in another article that ran the same day in the Chicago Tribune<\/em>. On August 16, 2011, he was quoted in an article titled \u201cBuying is cheaper than renting in most U.S. cities,\u201d on CNN Money and on August 18, 2011, he was quoted in the article \u201cRate on 30-year mortgage falls to lowest on record,\u201d which appeared in the Chicago Tribune<\/em>.<\/p>\n Adjunct Marcos A. Kerbel, was quoted in an article titled \u201cFlorida bankers watching, not worrying,\u201d which appeared in MiamiHerald.com on July 29, 2011.<\/p>\n Deanne Butchey has been promoted to senior lecturer and James Keys and Helen Simon have been promoted to senior instructor.<\/p>\n Alexander Saldarriaga has joined the department as an adjunct.<\/p>\n Department of Management and International Business<\/em><\/p>\n Ed Glab, clinical professor of business and director of the Global Energy Security Forum in FIU\u2019s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), was quoted in an article titled \u201cBachmann’s Everglades drilling comment doesn\u2019t resonate in Florida,\u201d which appeared in Minnesota Public Radio News on August 29, 2011.<\/p>\n Jerry Haar, associate dean for international affairs and projects, professor and research fellow, was quoted in \u201cMiami’s Football Scandal Clouds the Progress of a School and a City,\u201d which appeared on Time.com on August 17, 2011 and in \u201c7% jumps in Miami-Dade hotel occupancy, room rates forecast,\u201d an article in the Miami Today<\/em> edition for the week of August 25, 2011.<\/p>\n Sumit Kundu, professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, was a track chair for the \u201cGlobal Strategy, Alliances and Competitiveness\u201d track at the annual Academy of International Business (AIB) conference in Nagoya, Japan from June 26-29, 2011. Also, he presented three papers at the conference and received the \u201cBest Paper Award\u201d for the \u201cEmerging Markets Track\u201d for his co-authored paper \u201cThe Influence of Technology Characteristics on the Choice of Full versus Partial Acquisition in Emerging Markets.\u201d<\/p>\n
