\u201cI loved the energy, enthusiasm, and amazing creativity exhibited by our staff and students during Homecoming 2011,\u201d said Joyce J. Elam, executive dean of the College of Business Administration at Florida International University (FIU).<\/p>\n

And the awards were pretty nice, too.<\/p>\n

College gains two first place university recognitions. <\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to the Chapman Graduate School of Business whose elaborate circus theme won the best decoration award,\u201d said FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg in a post-homecoming email.<\/p>\n

In fact, even with a record number of offices participating, for the second consecutive year, the Chapman group nabbed the top spot in the university-wide homecoming decorating contest, whose theme was Roary\u2019s Circus.<\/p>\n

During halftime, the business school was announced as the winner of the student-decorated Spirit Car contest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe car, decorated by undergraduate students, combined the circus theme with football,\u201d said Yanyn San Luis (BA \u201910), coordinator, advancement, alumni and corporate relations. She, along with student Michael Perez of the Student Leadership Group, handled the details of homecoming events for the business school.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so thrilled to be able to expand our offerings and provide alumni with opportunities to feel the Panther Pride via exciting homecoming programming,\u201d said Monique R. Catoggio (EMBA \u201903), director, advancement, alumni and corporate relations.<\/p>\n

Winners named in business school competitions. <\/em><\/p>\n

Individual staff members and departments decorated their work areas to join in homecoming fun and for a chance to win prizes during the college\u2019s internal competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone worked hard from planning ideas to then cutting, pasting and making it all come together,\u201d said human resources assistant Alma Riesen-Puerto, one of the judges.<\/p>\n

Best Office\/Cubicle award went to the Decisions Sciences and Information Systems Department. The Dean\u2019s Office won the best department award.<\/p>\n

More prizes awarded during Field Day. <\/em><\/p>\n

On September 29, a Field Day of food, music and competitions such as three-leg races and a tug-of-war was held for faculty, staff and students of the college.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe all-star team of Dax Pedraza, facilities coordinator, and Brandon Garland, administrative coordinator, from the Finance and Administration Department did especially well,\u201d San Luis said.<\/p>\n
