Department of Decision Sciences and Information Systems<\/em><\/p>\n Monica Chiarini Tremblay, assistant professor, received a grant, along with Our Kids of Miami Dade and Monroe, from the Health Foundation of South Florida, for a project titled \u201cEvaluation of outcomes through the use of electronic medical passports at Our Kids.\u201d She was appointed an area editor for the interdisciplinary journal Health Systems<\/em> for the areas of decision support systems, data mining & data analytics in healthcare; was appointed as an associate editor for papers in the healthcare track at the European Conference on Information Systems, which will take place June 10-13, 2012 at ESADE in Barcelona, Spain; and had a mini-track proposal, entitled \u201cTelemedicine: Advances, Opportunities and Challenges for Information Systems,\u201d accepted at the Americas Conference on Information Systems to be held in Seattle, WA August 9-12, 2012.<\/p>\n Department of Finance and Real Estate<\/em><\/p>\n Ken H. Johnson, associate professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, was quoted extensively in the press in December 2011. Among the citations were \u201cThe Future of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac<\/a>\u201d in U.S.News and World Report<\/em> on December 14th; twice in the Palm Beach Post: \u201cAfter long lull, foreclosure filings ramp up<\/a>\u201d on December 15th and \u201cFlippers’ role in housing flop larger than thought<\/a>\u201d on December 25th; and \u201cWhich Is More Profitable: Buying or Renting?\u201d in the Main Street Newsletter<\/em> on December 27th.<\/p>\n Department of Management and International Business<\/em><\/p>\n Jerry Haar, associate dean for international affairs and projects, professor and research fellow, authored two of the five most popular columns published in Latin Business Chronicle<\/em> in 2011: \u201cLatin America Embraces Mobile Money\u201d and \u201cLatin America: The Quest for Talent,\u201d the latter written with Maria Pradilla, coordinator, international projects. He and Gabriel Rovayo, dean, IDE Business School in Ecuador, signed a dual degree agreement, a photo of which appeared in Vistazo<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n
