{"id":15140,"date":"2012-01-05T15:33:28","date_gmt":"2012-01-05T15:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/?p=15140"},"modified":"2017-11-02T08:52:16","modified_gmt":"2017-11-02T12:52:16","slug":"deans-alumni-circle-and-deans-council-come-together-to-celebrate-joint-10th-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/2012\/01\/deans-alumni-circle-and-deans-council-come-together-to-celebrate-joint-10th-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"Dean\u2019s Alumni Circle and Dean\u2019s Council come together to celebrate joint 10th anniversary."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Current and previous members of the College of Business Administration\u2019s Dean\u2019s Alumni Circle and Dean\u2019s Council gathered to toast past accomplishments&#8212;with a nod to a shared vision for the future at Florida International University (FIU).<\/p>\n<p>The evening spent at The Grove Isle Hotel in Miami provided a welcome opportunity for both groups to reconnect. In previous years, Joyce J. Elam, executive dean, hosted each group at her home on separate occasions during the holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>According to Monique Catoggio (EMBA \u201903), director, advancement, alumni and corporate relations, more than 100 attendees were on hand to hear Elam reflect on the achievements of the past ten years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15142\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15142\" style=\"width: 540px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15142 size-full\" title=\"Rojas Medina Elam and Caruncho\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Rojas-Medina-Elam-and-Caruncho.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15142\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Annabelle Rojas, assistant dean, advancement, alumni and corporate relations; Angel Medina Jr. executive vice president and chief credit officer, Gibraltar Private Bank &amp; Trust; Joyce J. Elam, executive dean, College of Business Administration; and Joseph L. Caruncho, chief executive officer, Preferred Care Partners Holding Corporation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Catoggio and Annabelle Rojas (MBA \u201998, BBA \u201987), assistant dean, advancement, alumni and corporate relations, also spoke briefly to the group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a lovely way to thank these dedicated alumni and council members for the positive impact they have on our college and business community,\u201d Catoggio said. \u201cWe have been successful in many ways because of their ongoing involvement and support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Original goals realized&#8212;with a passionate commitment to the future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Alfredo Cepero (MACC \u201990, BACC \u201988), current Alumni Circle chair, has been with the group since its inception.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15141\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15141\" style=\"width: 540px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15141 size-full\" title=\"Marlene and Alfredo Cepero\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Marlene-and-Alfredo-Cepero.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15141\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alfredo Cepero with his wife Marlene at the 10th anniversary celebration.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cServing as ambassadors for the college is an incredibly rewarding experience as we work together to build local awareness of our world-class business school,\u201d he said. \u201cOver the past ten years, this powerful group of dedicated volunteers has collaborated with Dean Elam and the college to drive strategy, mentor students and provide feedback on curriculum to build a stronger program that is highly marketable to current and future employers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cepero recognizes Elam as the visionary who was instrumental in starting both groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event also gave us a chance to collectively thank her for her unending commitment, guidance and enthusiasm,\u201d said Cepero, who is equally passionate about the future. \u201cWe will continue to drive positive change and fuel this economic engine for our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The current Alumni Leadership Campaign is helping build that future, with many members of both the Alumni Circle and the Dean\u2019s Council already contributing more than $110,000 toward a five-year $2 million goal.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/slideShow\/index.gne?group_id=&amp;user_id=23794481@N04&amp;set_id=72157628233836409\/show\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" align=\"middle\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Current and previous members of the College of Business Administration\u2019s Dean\u2019s Alumni Circle and Dean\u2019s Council gathered to toast past accomplishments&#8212;with a nod to a shared vision for the future at Florida International University (FIU).
