Department of Decision Sciences and Information Systems<\/em><\/p>\n

An article titled \u201cHealth Informatics: Critical to Healthcare\u2019s Success<\/a>\u201d by Nancy Borkowski, clinical associate professor and director of graduate health management programs, was published in the South Florida Hospital News and Healthcare Reporter<\/em> in January 2012. The article highlighted the College of Business Administration\u2019s new degree—the Master of Science in Health Informatics and Management Systems (MSHIMS)—as well as Monica Chiarini Tremblay, assistant professor and lead faculty; and Neera Bhansali, the program\u2019s faculty director.<\/p>\n

Monica Chiarini Tremblay, assistant professor, presented at the 2012 Accountable Care & Health IT Strategies Summit held January 17-19, 2012 in Doral, Florida. The panel was titled \u201cPhysician Engagement, Consumer Connectivity & Population Health Management.\u201d She has been named associate editor for the International Conference of Information Systems (ICIS) for the \u201cIT for Healthcare Management\u201d track. The conference is scheduled for December 2012.<\/p>\n

Department of Finance and Real Estate<\/em><\/p>\n

William G. Hardin III, director, Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute; professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, was appointed as a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The fellow designation is the highest professional designation conferred by RICS, reserved for members of the commercial real estate community with an extensive long-term record of achievement.<\/p>\n

Ken H. Johnson, associate professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, was quoted in two articles in the Palm Beach Post<\/em>: Foreclosure wait time drags to 806 days in Florida<\/a> and U.S. loosens mortgage aid requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Department of Management and International Business<\/em><\/p>\n

Ed Glab, clinical professor, published a section of a Q&A column in the January 9-13, 2012 issue of the Inter-American Dialogue\u2019s Latin America Energy Advisor<\/em>. The topic was \u201cWhat energy sector trends should leaders be watching?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cICT: Hype or Panacea?<\/a>\u201d by Jerry Haar, associate dean for international affairs and projects, professor and research fellow, appeared in Latin Business Chronicle<\/em> on January 9, 2012.<\/p>\n

Nathan Hiller, assistant professor and Center for Leadership fellow, has been appointed to the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Psychology<\/em> (JAP), serving as a contributing editor. A premier journal in management and international business as well as in organizational psychology, the publication also is on the Financial Times<\/em> list of elite business school publications.<\/p>\n

Sumit Kundu, professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow; William Newburry, associate professor, SunTrust Bank Professor; and David Ralston, professor and Knight Ridder Research Fellow, are mentioned in the article \u201cRanking international business institutions and faculty members using research publication as the measure, update and extension of prior research,\u201d forthcoming in Management International Review <\/em>(MIR). Kundu appears in the combined rankings across three top international business journals—Journal of <\/em>International Business Studies<\/em> (JIBS), MIR and Journal of World Business <\/em>(JWB)—and in the MIR-specific rankings. Newburry and Ralston are listed in the JIBS-specific rankings, and Florida International University is listed in the MIR-specific rankings by university.<\/p>\n

Dileep Rao, clinical professor, offers expert commentary in an article titled \u201cNew home boosts residential remodeler<\/a>,\u201d in the Minneapolis Star Tribune<\/em> on January 29, 2012.<\/p>\n

The article \u201cAre you a level-six leader?<\/a>\u201d by Modesto A. Maidique, president emeritus of FIU, Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Eminent Scholar Chair in Leadership and executive director of the Center for Leadership, was named one of the \u201cMost Popular Articles of 2011<\/a>\u201d that appeared in the Harvard Business School\u2019s weekly newsletter, Working Knowledge<\/em>. The paper was read 23,834 times.<\/p>\n

Mary Ann Von Glinow, professor and Knight Ridder Eminent Scholar Chair in International Management, has been appointed as a research fellow of Volvo\/Geely\u2019s Sanya Global Corporation and Culture Center—one of only five scholars around the world chosen for the fellowship. Geely is one of the top three non-state auto makers in China, and in 2010, Geely acquired Volvo, the largest overseas acquisition by a Chinese manufacturing company. Li Shufu, chair of both companies, has founded a new research center to study the cross-cultural issues facing global companies. Their goal is to become one of the world\u2019s leading research and consulting centers designed to generate impact on the global scene. The inauguration of the Volvo Research Center coincides with the annual Sanya Volvo Ocean Race, February 17-19, 2012; Shufu has asked the research fellows to convene at Hainan Island after having toured Volvo\u2019s headquarters in Shanghai, Geely\u2019s Ningbo plant and headquarters in Hangzhou and the Sanya Research Center\u2019s inauguration.<\/p>\n
