The College of Business Administration at Florida International University is pleased to welcome four new administrators to its staff.<\/p>\n
Angel Burgos joins FIU business as executive director, MBA programs.<\/em><\/p>\n In his role as executive director, MBA programs, Angel Burgos will manage the college\u2019s portfolio of MBA offerings including the Executive (EMBA), Professional (PMBA), International (IMBA) and online programs targeted to working professionals. He will also have overall management responsibility for the Master of International Business (MIB) program.<\/p>\n \u201cI was drawn to the job by the quality of the leadership team, the MBA programs team and the fact that Florida International University (FIU) has the vision, plans and expertise to move to the next level of excellence,\u201d he said. \u201cAlso, the business school has a clear growth plan for graduate education with new facilities that will make the MBA programs even more attractive.\u201d<\/p>\n Burgos brings more than 15 years of experience in managing graduate programs, most recently as director of MBA and MS in accounting programs for the George Mason University School of Management. Prior to that, he contributed to the graduate programs for the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University and George Washington University.<\/p>\n A graduate of the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs with a master\u2019s degree in public administration, he is working on his dissertation proposal in the doctoral program in education at George Mason University. Beyond the academic world, he was a Javits Senatorial Fellow for U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman.<\/p>\n \u201cI am really excited to be here,\u201d he said. \u201cFIU is a clearly a dynamic university that is plugged into both the community at large and the business community in particular. It understands what it means to relate to and challenge a diverse and growing student body, especially those in graduate education.\u201d<\/p>\n Cristina Raecke named executive director, marketing and communications.<\/em><\/p>\n Energy, growth, passion, nimbleness, clear sense of its mission, the ability to harness and embrace growth and a commitment to the community.<\/p>\n Those are some of the attributes of the college that attracted Cristina Raecke to FIU Business, where she now holds the position of executive director, marketing and communications.<\/p>\n Raised in Miami, she had always known about FIU and is excited to head the business school\u2019s department responsible for the college\u2019s publications, the web, event marketing, and the development and implementation of the marketing strategies for both graduate and undergraduate programs.<\/p>\n \u201cI see our department as an internal agency,\u201d Raecke said. \u201cWe have many clients within the college, and I want to ensure that our team serves them in the most effective way.\u201d<\/p>\n Another aspect of her short-term plan for the college focuses on research.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will undertake an in-depth research effort to enable us to fully understand our market, and then rebrand FIU Business while conforming to FIU guidelines,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Raecke, who holds a bachelor\u2019s degree from University of Richmond and an MBA from University of Texas at Austin, has worked in the telecommunications industry with Lucent Technologies and Nortel Networks as well as with the law firm of Greenburg Traurig. She was manager of marketing and communications for Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision; manager for marketing and community relations for the Miami Downtown Development Authority; and director of recruiting and admissions for the University of Miami\u2019s MBA programs.<\/p>\n For the many positive characteristics she sees in the college, the deep involvement in the community strikes her as one of the most important, and she is \u201cvery happy to be part of that effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/a>
