It was the sixth time in seven years that the college was included in the publication\u2019s \u201cThe Best Undergrad B-Schools\u201d survey.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16796\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16796\" style=\"width: 240px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16796 size-full\" title=\"FIU Business ranks 8th in international business\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/rankings-thumb.jpg\" alt=\"FIU Business ranks 8th in international business\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16796\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FIU Business ranks 8th in international business<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When the publication released the rankings for specialty categories in May 2012, the news got even better for FIU Business.<\/p>\n<p>The college\u2019s international business specialty ranked eighth, climbing from 21<sup>st<\/sup> the prior year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInternational business is one of our four strategic areas of focus, which makes this recognition particularly gratifying for us,\u201d said Joyce J. Elam, executive dean. \u201cIt is one way to confirm that our efforts at the undergraduate level continue to move in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Success in other categories adds to the college\u2019s standing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em> evaluates 14 academic disciplines as part of its specialty rankings. The business school was in the top 100 in all specialties, including two other strategic areas for the college: entrepreneurship and financial services.<\/p>\n<p>It ranked in the top 25 in four specialty areas: 11<sup>th<\/sup> in operations management, 17<sup>th<\/sup> in sustainability, 20<sup>th<\/sup> in information systems and 25<sup>th<\/sup> in marketing. It was in the top 50 in three other specialties: 27<sup>th<\/sup> in ethics, 41<sup>st<\/sup> in business law and 49<sup>th<\/sup> in entrepreneurship. Finally, the college ranked 51<sup>st<\/sup> in quantitative methods, 55<sup>th<\/sup> in finance, 57<sup>th<\/sup> in both micro and macro economics, 64<sup>th<\/sup> in corporate strategy and 99<sup>th<\/sup> in accounting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur position in the top 100 in each category is a tribute to our faculty members who work tirelessly to deliver engaging, relevant and high-quality courses, and to the staff members who support them,\u201d Elam said. \u201cIt\u2019s affirming to hear from our students that we are giving them the preparation that they need to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rankings are based on surveys completed by 85,000 students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In March 2012, the Landon Undergraduate School of Business of the College of Business Administration at Florida International University (FIU) ranked 109th in the Bloomberg Businessweek rankings.
