On April 25, 2013, more than 25,000 of them, from over 800 companies, participated in the Miami portion of the three-race series.<\/p>\n<p>The College of Business at Florida International University (FIU) was FIU\u2019s primary sponsor and took advantage of the opportunity to increase awareness of FIU\u2019s Brickell facility&#8212; FIU Downtown on Brickell&#8212;and Panther Pride.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21767\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21767\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/FIU-team.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21767\" title=\"FIU team\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/FIU-team.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/FIU-team.jpg 550w, https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/FIU-team-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21767\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Team FIU consisted of more than double the number of last year\u2019s participants.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Team FIU\u2019s 237 participants&#8212;up from 56 in 2011 and 106 in 2012&#8212;were decked out in premium athletic, dry fit shirts. The t-shirt design, with the slogan \u201cPanthers Run This Town,\u201d was selected from three options posted on Facebook and voted for by \u201clikes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Additional elements add to FIU\u2019s presence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe parked the wrapped Worlds Ahead bus&#8212;which is normally used to transport students from the Modesto A. Maidique Campus to the Biscayne Bay Campus&#8212; along the race course on Biscayne Boulevard,\u201d said Veronica Perez (MBA \u201912, BBA \u201908), marketing manager, Marketing &amp; Communications Department. \u201cIn that position, it served as a billboard, plus Roary cheered the team on as they crossed the finish line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Giveaways included hand fans and small silicone iPhone speakers.<\/p>\n<p>The other races in the series take place in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n[set_id=72157633357798182]\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Call it a self-paced athletic event or \u201cSouth Florida&#8217;s largest office party,\u201d for 28 years, runners and walkers have been drawn to the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run 5K.
