Approximately 1,011 students in the College of Business at Florida International University (FIU) graduated in Spring Commencement ceremonies on May 1, 2013. In the afternoon, 676 business students received their bachelor\u2019s degrees; 335 graduate students, two of them new PhDs, graduated in the evening.<\/p>\n

Spring Commencement 2013 took place on May 1st. Just over 1,000 students graduated from the College of Business.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Three new Worlds Ahead Graduates majored in business.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Worlds Ahead Graduate designation singles out individuals with strong leadership qualities, a desire to change lives and a record of academic achievement.<\/p>\n

Three FIU Business students received this prestigious recognition.<\/p>\n

Pubbens Clermont (BBA \u201913), holds a double major in finance and management information systems, achieved Dean\u2019s List status for his final two years and was a dedicated youth volunteer at his church as well as with Hope Outreach, Stay Smart Men\u2019s Group, Teen Trendsetters and the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.<\/p>\n

Finance major Lureida Soto (BBA \u201913) helped fight human trafficking with the FIU for Freedom Association, taught financial literacy skills to Miami\u2019s homeless through a finance class project at the Chapman Partnership, worked with children in Thailand through a study abroad program and participated in ALPFA FIU and FIU Enactus.<\/p>\n

With his desire to help others, Nicolas Lopez (BBA \u201913), helped start the Phoenician Investment Fund, a pioneering group at FIU in which students could immerse themselves in learning about the capital markets from professionals and peers. He also taught teaching financial literacy to high school students as an intern in business school\u2019s State Farm Financial Literacy Lab (SFFLL).<\/p>\n

College employees add degrees to their list of accomplishments. <\/em><\/p>\n

Six employees in the business school were among the graduates, completing business degrees and other degrees from across the university.<\/p>\n

Pamela Bambaren (MS \u201913, BA \u201909), graduate research assistant, Center for Leadership (CFL), received her Master of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology; her undergraduate degree also is in psychology.<\/p>\n

Frinee Berrios (BA \u201913), program assistant in the college\u2019s Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program, majored in psychology.<\/p>\n

Cynthia Blanco (MA \u201913, BA \u201909), program coordinator for the college\u2019s MBA programs, earned her Master of Arts in global governance. Her undergraduate degree is in religious studies.<\/p>\n

Luis Carrasco (BACC \u201913), research assistant, Center for Leadership, will be interning at PricewaterhouseCoopers this summer, then entering the college\u2019s Master of Accounting (MACC) program and continuing to work at CFL.<\/p>\n

Sara Ormaza (MS \u201913, BBA \u201906), is assistant director of the college\u2019s Corporate MBA program. Her Master of Science is in curriculum and instruction: learning technologies; previously, she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a management major.<\/p>\n

Grace Salgado (MS \u201913, BA \u201910), assistant director, Career Management Services (CMS), received a Master of Science in higher education administration; as an undergraduate, she majored in psychology.<\/p>\n
