The event on January 8, 2015 was organized by two groups: the <a href=\"http:\/\/fiualumni.com\/chapters\/broward\/\" target=\"_blank\">Broward Alumni Chapter<\/a>, which serves all Panthers living or working in Broward County, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/alumni\/business_alumni_chapter.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Business Alumni Chapter<\/a>, which organizes programs and events for alumni of FIU\u2019s College of Business.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24798\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-02.jpg\" alt=\"biz-alumni-02\" width=\"550\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-02.jpg 550w, https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-02-230x130.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeeting other alumni adds value to our degrees,\u201d said J. David Lenis (BBA \u201912), a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and a member of both chapters. \u201cAll things being equal, I\u2019d rather work with an FIU alum. Events like this help all of us meet more fellow FIU graduates and reconnect with those I already know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24800\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-05.jpg\" alt=\"biz-alumni-05\" width=\"550\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lenis was one of the chapters\u2019 board members who helped Daniel Farmer (BBA \u201972) organize the get-together, with about fifty alumni in attendance. Event planning took place at the new FIU @ I75 facility in Miramar.<\/p>\n<p>Giving short welcomes to the alumni were Lenis, Bert Mahecha (BS \u201897) and Amir Vasquez (MSF \u201912).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24799\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/biz-alumni-04.jpg\" alt=\"biz-alumni-04\" width=\"550\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Broward County alumni can expect more local events.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re reaching out to the strong number of alumni in Broward County by hosting events at a location convenient to them,\u201d says Yanyn San Luis (BBA \u201910), assistant director, Alumni Relations. \u201cThe turnout on January 8 shows there is high interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor those of us living and working in Broward County, it\u2019s not always easy to get to the Miami-Dade area,\u201d said Lenis. \u201cWe\u2019re getting great feedback to have more Broward County events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Business Alumni Chapter is planning an alumni get-together at 6:30 p.m. on March 12, 2015 at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse in Ft.
