The FIU chapter also captured five first-place finishes in state conference competitions. Additionally, Albert Amaya won election as the 2016-2017 Florida State President and Elizabeth Alvarez was named the state\u2019s 2016-17 Parliamentarian, the result of earning the highest score on the parliamentarian procedures exam.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve put in a lot of hard work and many late nights to not only strengthen our chapter but also to prepare for the state conference,\u201d said Amaya, who serves on the executive board along with Alvarez and chapter president Kevin Carballe. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled with being named as Florida Chapter of the Year, along with again earning the designation as a Gold Seal chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was a member of this organization at the high school level, then as an FIU student and now as a professional, so I have seen how this organization can help students grow and develop,\u201d said chapter advisor Yanyn San Luis (BA \u201910), assistant director of alumni relations in FIU\u2019s Office of Advancement. \u201cThe members\u2019 stellar achievements led to their high honors and recognition at the conference and have once again made FBLA-PBL one of the premier student organizations in FIU\u2019s College of Business.\u201d<\/p>\n
