Starting businesses and shooting for the stars. These are some of the goals women can pursue at the second annual Power Up! Women\u2019s Summit, to be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Parrot Jungle Island in Miami.<\/p>\n<p>Themed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/powerupsummit.fiu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Power of You<\/a>,\u201d the full-day conference, presented by FIU Business and its <a href=\"https:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/alumni\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alumni Association<\/a>, will feature speakers on all aspects of professional and personal development, sustaining personal health and fostering growth.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, FIU Business\u2019 Women\u2019s Alumni Council founded Power Up! as a half-day conference designed to bring tools for success to their fellow alumni and the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conference was an immediate success,\u201d said Yanyn San Luis, interim director of alumni relations for FIU Business and the conference\u2019s founder. \u201cWomen who attended urged us to expand it to a full day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jek1oJDb7Zo?rel=0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The conference created a sense of community for many women looking for new avenues for sharing strategies and exploring new roads to success, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year\u2019s conference sold out, and we\u2019re already getting tremendous interest from those who want more,\u201d said San Luis.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speakers, many of them FIU alumni, include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Susan Ford Collins<\/strong>, Author of the Technology of Success series<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Carmen Perez<\/strong> \u201982, President, FPL FiberNet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Francis Hondal<\/strong> \u201987, EVP, Global Consumer Credit &amp; Loyalty Solutions, MasterCard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pamela Silva Conde <\/strong>\u201903, \u201912, Six time Emmy award winning journalist &amp; Co-anchor of the Univision Network\u2019s Primer Impacto<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Misha Kuryla Gomez<\/strong> \u201904, Founder, Misha\u2019s Cupcakes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Luly Balepogi<\/strong> \u201900, owner of Chispa and Luly B., Inc., will serve as mistress of ceremonies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional speakers will explore achieving success as women in entrepreneurship and technology leadership positions, successful negotiation tactics, mindfulness and beauty.<\/p>\n<p>Early bird tickets to the event are $150 and include breakfast, lunch, all sessions and a networking reception.
