Associate Professor Antoinette Smith<\/a> has been appointed to the board of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy. Smith was also named one of Miami\u2019s Top Black Educators 2017 by Legacy Miami magazine, published July 17, 2017.<\/p>\n Department Chair Shahid Hamid<\/a> was quoted in a story titled \u201cIn booming South Florida, another Hurricane Andrew could be a $300 billion catastrophe\u201d that ran in USA Today, August 22, 2017.<\/p>\n Associate Professor Mustafa Caglayan<\/a> co-authored a paper titled “Upside Potential of Hedge Funds as a Predictor of Future Performance,” accepted for presentation at the 2018 American Finance Association meetings.<\/p>\n Clinical Professor Jerry Haar<\/a> co-authored an article titled \u201cGood corporate citizenry, no longer a choice but a necessity\u201d that appeared in Latin Trade magazine, August 15, 2017. Haar also authored a column titled \u201cTrump hates NAFTA, but it has made Florida a jobs winner,\u201d which ran in the Miami Herald, July 31, 2017.<\/p>\n Professor Juan I. Sanchez<\/a> was interviewed on CNN en Espa\u00f1ol in a segment titled \u201cGoogle \u2013 Diversidad o Intolerancia,\u201d on CNN Dinero, August 17, 2017. Sanchez was also interviewed on CNN en Espa\u00f1ol in a segment titled \u201cLo que tienes que saber para ser un buen manager,\u201d on CNN Dinero, August 29, 2017.<\/p>\n Associate Professor Ronaldo Parente<\/a> recently presented a paper titled \u201cCreativity as a high-level resource in the international involvement of the firm,\u201d at the annual Academy of International Business meeting held in Dubai, July 2-5, 2017, for which the authors received the \u201cThat\u2019s Interesting\u201d Best Paper Award and a $1,000 prize. Parente also was named an associate editor of the Cross Cultural & Strategic Management journal.<\/p>\n Assistant Professor Curba Morris Lampert<\/a> co-authored a paper titled \u201cWhen Dinosaurs Fly: The Role of Firm Capabilities in the \u2018Avianization\u2019 of Incumbents during Disruptive Technological Change,\u201d which has been accepted for publication by the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. Lampert has also been appointed to the editorial board of the Strategic Management Journal.<\/p>\n Adjunct Lecturer Jaime Franco<\/a> was interviewed for a segment titled \u201cUber, \u00bfen problemas?\u201d on CNN en Espa\u00f1ol on July 12, 2017.<\/p>\n Assistant Professor Samantha C. Paustian-Underdahl<\/a>, and MIB PhD student Cynthia Halliday, co-authored a paper titled \u201cAutonomy as a Key Resource for Women in Low Gender Egalitarian Countries: A Cross-Cultural Examination,\u201d accepted for publication in Human Resource Management. Paustian-Underdahl also presented a study titled \u201cPregnancy Discrimination is a Family Affair: Changes in Women\u2019s Career Attitudes due to Discrimination depend on Spousal Support,\u201d at the 2017 Academy of Management conference, in Atlanta, Ga., August 4-8.<\/p>\n Assistant Professor William F Humphrey, Jr.<\/a>, was interviewed for \u201cThe Teachers’ Lounge,\u201d HubSpot’s podcast for the Education Partner Program, August 10, 2017.<\/p>\n Instructor Nancy Richmond<\/a> was quoted in a story titled \u201cWe\u2019re all teched up if the Big One strikes\u201d that ran in the Miami Herald, August 21, 2017.<\/p>\nFinance<\/h3>\n
