{"id":30231,"date":"2018-04-10T09:27:18","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T13:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/?p=30231"},"modified":"2018-04-25T12:16:25","modified_gmt":"2018-04-25T16:16:25","slug":"fiu-business-partners-with-uibe-in-china-for-academic-collaboration-and-graduate-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/2018\/04\/fiu-business-partners-with-uibe-in-china-for-academic-collaboration-and-graduate-programs\/","title":{"rendered":"FIU Business partners with UIBE in China for academic collaboration and graduate programs."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30233 size-full\" title=\"FIU Business partners with UIBE in China.\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/FIU-Business-partners-with-UIBE-in-China-compressor.jpg\" alt=\"FIU Business partners with UIBE in China for academic collaboration and graduate programs.\" width=\"1000\" height=\"541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/FIU-Business-partners-with-UIBE-in-China-compressor.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/FIU-Business-partners-with-UIBE-in-China-compressor-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/FIU-Business-partners-with-UIBE-in-China-compressor-230x124.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>FIU Business has entered into an academic partnership with the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing for graduate dual-degree programs in finance and international business.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement lays the groundwork for\u00a0a network of academic and professional alliances that will reach from Miami to one of China\u2019s leading business schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the beginning of a new era of cooperation between our institutions,\u201d\u00a0said Joanne Li, dean of FIU\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">College of Business<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cIn the coming years, we will work together to take the relationship to the highest levels to benefit students, faculty, and alumni in our local and global communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the first step, UIBE students will be able to receive the FIU <a href=\"https:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/graduate\/international-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Master of International Business<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/graduate\/finance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Master of Science in Finance<\/a> at FIU at the Chapman Graduate School of Business in Miami. UIBE-FIU business courses will begin in China at UIBE\u2019s campus in Qingdao this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The first cohort of UIBE students are expected to join FIU Business in\u00a0the above mentioned programs in Fall 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur intent is to partner with high quality and entrepreneurial\u00a0institutions in China; and welcome our\u00a0partnership with UIBE to foster student exchange and faculty research collaboration,\u201d said Sumit Kundu, associate dean, <a href=\"https:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/globiz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">international programs<\/a> at FIU Business.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the three-year agreement, FIU will also have a strong brand presence in China.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be a building in the campus designated for FIU programs,\u201d said Dr. Wenyu Kou, Dean of UIBE Qingdao Campus, currently in development. A building on the campus will be co-branded UIBE-FIU.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30234 size-full\" title=\"A delegation from UIBE visited FIU in January 2018\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/UIBE-FIU-compressor.jpg\" alt=\"A delegation from UIBE visited FIU in January 2018\" width=\"1000\" height=\"657\" srcset=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/UIBE-FIU-compressor.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/UIBE-FIU-compressor-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/UIBE-FIU-compressor-230x151.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Partnership will add other FIU Business programs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the near future, the FIU-UIBE partnership will extend to collaborations and exchanges in FIU\u2019s\u00a0Healthcare MBA and Ph.D. programs. FIU and UIBE will also work closely on innovation in areas related to programs exploring the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUIBE is a national key university jointly-sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Commerce,\u201d said Li. \u201cIt is the top university in China in the fields of economics, finance and management business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agreement\u00a0is expected to open the door to\u00a0additional partnerships for\u00a0undergraduate programs, student and faculty exchanges, executive education, and conferences.<\/p>\n<p>A delegation from UIBE, led by Kou, visited FIU in January 2018 and finalized the partnership.\u00a0Founded in 1951, UIBE is a multi-disciplinary national university with economics, management, law, literature and science as its core academic areas of expertise.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/slideShow\/index.gne?group_id=&amp;user_id=23794481@N04&amp;set_id=72157692779323235\/show\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" align=\"middle\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FIU Business has entered into an academic partnership with the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing for graduate dual-degree programs in finance and international business.
