FIU is closed and all classes are canceled through Tuesday, Sept. 3. 2019,\u00a0<\/strong>as parts of South Florida remain under tropical storm watches and warnings.<\/p>\n There are\u00a0limited food venue operations<\/a>:\u00a08th<\/sup>\u00a0Street Campus Kitchen\u00a0and Market at Breezeway will be open at MMC. Only assigned essential personnel will\u00a0need to report to work prior to the official reopening. Supervisors\u00a0will contact essential employees who need to come back on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Please\u00a0continue monitoring news media reports and look for official university communication through email and on social media channels regarding operations the rest of the week<\/p>\n Dorian is one of the strongest hurricanes on record and it is currently bearing down on the Bahamas. We still don\u2019t know the full effects of the hurricane on the Bahamas or how it will impact our fellow Floridians and others up the east coast.<\/p>\n The university is activating FIUstrong to help assist FIU students, faculty and staff who may be experiencing hardship as a result of Dorian\u2019s ravaging effects.<\/p>\n To help\u00a0members of the FIU family impacted by Hurricane Dorian, please visit\u00a0https:\/\/fiustrong.fiu.edu\/<\/a><\/p>\n If you are personally impacted by Dorian please do not hesitate to ask for help.
