Joanne Li<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Joanne Li, dean of FIU College of Business (FIU Business), has been selected as a 2020 Influential Business Women honoree by the South Florida Business Journal<\/em>, one of a select group of women from throughout South Florida to receive the prestigious annual honor.<\/p>\n

Since her 2017 arrival at FIU, Li, who also holds the Ryder Eminent Scholar Chair in Business, has focused on building student success, raising the international profile of the college, and serving as a connector and facilitator in the business community. Her diversity and inclusion initiatives include growing FIU Business\u2019 Power Up Women\u2019s Leadership Conference and serving as a champion for female faculty and students, particularly in non-traditional fields such as finance and data analytics.<\/p>\n

Li is president of the Council of Chinese American Deans and Presidents (CCADP) and recently completed her term on the eight-member board of directors of CLADEA, the Latin American Council of Management Schools, the first woman ever to serve in that capacity.<\/p>\n

She was named to the 2020 Class of Florida Influencers by the Miami Herald<\/em> and was recognized as an honoree in the Book of Leaders 2019 by Miami Today<\/em>.\u00a0Li has appeared on numerous panels and symposia, most recently on the Dean\u2019s Panel at the Academy of International Business, and at the EFMD Executive Academy.\u00a0She is a member of the EFMD Global Network Americas Advisory Board, a non-profit global accreditation body for business schools, business school programs and corporate universities.\u00a0She is a member of the Advisory Council of CENTRUM PUCP, the business school of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.<\/p>\n

Li, a native of Hong Kong, arrived in the U.S. as an undergraduate, attending Florida State University, where she also received her doctorate.<\/p>\n

The South Florida Business Journal\u2019s<\/em> Influential Business Women award recognizes leadership and impactful work in organizations and area philanthropy. The women honored are involved in a cross section of South Florida organizations, with the common bond of a drive to build leadership skills, particularly among young women.<\/p>\n

FIU Business alumni Cheryl Rees (MSF \u201992), chief marketing officer of Ocean Bank, and Katalina Cruz (BAcc \u201997), chief operating officer of KW Property Management & Consulting, as well as Jacqueline Chariff, CEO of CosmeticPerks and a 1982 graduate of FIU\u2019s College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts, will be among those honored at the luncheon.<\/p>\n

The Business Journal<\/em>\u2019s 2020 Influential Business Women honorees will be celebrated on March 13, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida.
