Arun Rai, one of the world\u2019s leading scholars in the field of information systems, has been inducted as a member of the Dean\u2019s Circle of Distinguished Research Fellows at FIU Business. The Dean\u2019s Distinguished Research Fellow initiative promotes collaboration between FIU Business faculty and students and the world\u2019s top scholars in pursuit of relevant and meaningful research to influence policy and best business practices.\u00a0 The program also aims to create a pipeline for future researchers through fostering social capital with world renowned scholars in their fields.<\/p>\n

Rai is Regents’ Professor at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, holds the J. Mack Robinson Chair of IT-Enabled Process Innovation and Supply Chains and the Harkins Chair of Information Systems, and is Director of the Center for Digital Innovation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are extremely fortunate to have one of the world\u2019s most distinguished scholars in information systems joining us as a research fellow as we continue to build upon the strengths of our own faculty in this field,\u201d said Joanne Li, the dean of FIU Business. \u201cI know that our faculty and students will benefit greatly from the opportunity to engage with someone as accomplished in this field as Dr. Rai.\u201d<\/p>\n

For more than 30 years, Rai\u2019s research has focused on the development and deployment of information systems to drive innovation and create value. His work has been published extensively in premier journals with 245 peer-reviewed articles that include 115 refereed journal articles. Rai serves as editor-in-chief for MIS Quarterly<\/em>, widely regarded as the premier journal in information systems. He is ranked among the top five scholars for publications over the last 20 years in MIS Quarterly<\/em> and Information Systems Research<\/em>, the field\u2019s top two journals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honored to be inducted into the FIU Business Dean\u2019s Circle of Distinguished Research Fellows. FIU Business is fast earning a reputation as a leader in information systems education and research,\u201d said Rai. \u201cI look forward to interacting with the college\u2019s distinguished faculty and its students who are engaged in this important business field.\u201d<\/p>\n

The FIU Business Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics<\/a> is home to nearly 30 faculty members with expertise in areas ranging from blockchain and artificial intelligence to business and health analytics, agile methodologies and telemedicine. The college offers majors in business analytics and information systems. It also offers a Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics program and a Master of Science in Information Systems program. Its students consistently shine in national competitions in the field. In March 2020, FIU Business students took the top spots at the Association for Information Systems national 2020 AIS Challenge, placing first in the Blockchain Challenge and first in the Computational Scholastic Challenge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
