It\u2019s the group\u2019s second consecutive year to receive the highest distinction possible from the prestigious international honor society for business school students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the areas where FIU Business members stood out to the judges was social media, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. They led the series of \u201cBrave Zone\u201d webinars focused on topics ranging from mental and physical well-being habits to how to maintain motivation. Students also increased Beta Gamma Sigma\u2019s presence on Instagram, WhatsApp and LinkedIn, profiling members and giving the organization more exposure.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_31693\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31693\" style=\"width: 120px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-31693\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Donald-Roomes.jpg\" alt=\"Donald Roomes\" width=\"120\" height=\"170\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-31693\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Donald Roomes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur students showed what it takes to be successful in times of pandemic,\u201d said Donald Roomes, teaching professor in international business and director of student success initiatives at the College of Business. \u201cI\u2019m really proud of our hard-working students and the strong team of leaders we have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responding to the pandemic, this year\u2019s Beta Gamma Sigma induction ceremony was held virtually on September 10, 2020. The FIU Business chapter now has 317 members, with 120 formally inducted at the most recent ceremony.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYour hard work, your leadership, your initiatives have made FIU Business a better business school,\u201d said Joanne Li, dean of FIU Business, in remarks during the ceremony. \u201cFIU Business is on the rise, and you are the reason. You are a great poster of success for all of us here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FIU Business alumna Cristina di Mauro (BBA \u201901), senior executive vice president and commercial line of business executive at BankUnited, was the honoree at this year\u2019s ceremony.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She complemented inductees on their achievement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYou have already demonstrated that you have a tremendous amount of IQ,\u201d said Di Mauro. \u201cSo, I think the best advice I can give you in your personal and professional lives is, take the time now to develop your EQ (emotional intelligence),because with both of those tools, there&#8217;s really no limit to what you can achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beta Gamma Sigma currently has 612 collegiate chapters in business schools accredited by AACSB International.
