FIU Business has been designated an Approved Education Partner by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), becoming one of only 37 institutions worldwide to receive the prestigious designation.<\/p>\n
HIMSS awarded the designation for the college\u2019s\u00a0Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics (MSHIA)<\/a>,\u00a0a fully-online, 14-month program\u00a0that prepares \u00a0healthcare professionals to use health information technology to improve the quality, safety, outcomes, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare delivery, as well as the FIU Business\u00a0Health Informatics Certificate.<\/a><\/p>\n As one of the most highly respected organizations for professional development in the healthcare IT field, HIMSS cited the program for its continuous quality improvement based on student feedback.<\/p>\n In a letter to Program Director Cynthia LeRouge announcing the prestigious recognition,\u00a0Mara L. Daiker, HIMSS director of professional development, commended \u201chow relevant you have made the course through the competencies you outlined,\u201d as well as the depth of the program\u2019s advisory board.<\/p>\n \u201cWe see a wealth of industry insights to help continue the alignment of your courses to meet the industry\u2019s growth,\u201d she wrote in the letter.<\/p>\n As a HIMSS Approved Education Partner, FIU may offer HIMSS-approved education programs that prepare candidates for advanced knowledge in health information and technology. FIU\u2019s MSHIA, Health Informatics Certificate and professional education program are eligible for HIMSS continuing education hours.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is not just a hallmark to recognize quality,\u201d LeRouge said. \u201cThrough the HIMSS\u2019s approved educational program, FIU\u2019s MSHIA program and Health Informatics Certificate can offer students and faculty valuable tools and resources they can use to enhance their FIU education and success in the health informatics industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
