On March 23, 2007, South Florida executives and business alumni attended the second annual Business Alumni Conference held at the college\u2019s Downtown Center.\u00a0 The half-day event included panel sessions on real estate, corporate governance, healthcare, insurance, and family business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert Garcia<\/strong> (EMBA \u201997), college director of Executive and Professional Education (EPE), said that, \u201cThe panel discussions were wonderful \u2014 very seasoned professionals with a wealth of knowledge to share.\u201d\u00a0 He added that, \u201cIt was a great opportunity to network and reconnect with fellow alumni,\u201d and that it \u201cwas one of the most informative conferences I have attended this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lourdes Herrero-Matus<\/strong> (BBA \u201998), program manager for the Downtown MBA and MBA for Public Managers programs, said, \u201cIt was a great honor for the Downtown Center to host such a notable event for the college; the impressive panels of speakers and distinguished alumni in attendance made for a wonderful experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The college\u2019s business alumni chapter expressed its appreciation to the panelists, who included the following people:<\/p>\n

  • The real estate session was moderated by William Hardin<\/strong>, Knight Ridder associate professor and director of the college\u2019s real estate programs. Panelists were Paul Jones<\/strong> (BBA \u201978), Pyramid Realty Group, Inc.; Guy Trusty<\/strong>, CCIM, president, Lodging & Hospitality Realty, Inc., and Adam Lotterman<\/strong>, senior analyst, Goodkin Consulting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • The corporate governance panel, was moderated by Jos\u00e9 de la Torre<\/strong>, dean of the Chapman Graduate School.\u00a0\u00a0 Panelists included Mario de Armas <\/strong>(BBA \u201985), office managing partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP; Ben Wells<\/strong>, CFO and treasurer, Burger King Corporation, and Alvaro de Molina<\/strong>, former CFO, Bank of America.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • The family business session was moderated by James R. Bussey<\/strong> (EMBA \u201997) chief of staff, College of Business Administration.\u00a0 Panelists included: Derek Cap\u00f3 <\/strong>(BBA \u201903), analyst, Everest Capital; Jesus Cap\u00f3<\/strong>, COO, El Dorado; and Roberto Cap\u00f3 <\/strong>(BBA \u201993), CMO, El Dorado.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
