Members of the Dean\u2019s Council\u2014a group of business leaders who represent a cross section of industries\u2014provide College of Business Administration Executive Dean Joyce J. Elam<\/strong> insights into the college\u2019s strategic direction, new initiatives, and existing programs, among their many contributions. \nAntonio \u201cTony\u201d L. Argiz<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n Antonio \u201cTony\u201d L. Argiz<\/strong> (BBA\u2019 74), CEO and managing partner of Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP, is recognized as an expert in auditing and forensic accounting, fraud prevention, and business valuations. In 1996, the governor of Florida appointed him to chair Florida\u2019s Board of Accountancy. A recipient of many community and professional commendations, he recently has been recognized by the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA) with the 2006 \u201cOutstanding CPA in Public Service\u201d Award and by the South Florida Business Journal<\/em> with the 2006 \u201cUltimate CEO Award\u2013Miami.\u201d He also won Florida International University\u2019s \u201cOutstanding Alumnus\u201d Award three times. <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n \n
\nDarcie Burk<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n Darcie Burk<\/strong>, divisional director for the Latin American Division of Merrill Lynch\u2019s Global Private Client Group, joined Merrill Lynch as a financial analyst in the firm\u2019s Treasury Office and later in Debt and Equity Trading. She has held a variety of management positions throughout the firm, and in 2000, became first vice president of Investment Products and Performance in International Private Client, where she oversaw product development and distribution for Merrill Lynch\u2019s international client base. She received her master\u2019s in business administration from the American Graduate School of International Management in 1980, graduating with honors.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n \n
\nTheodore N. Carter<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n Theodore N. Carter<\/strong>, senior managing director, CB Richard Ellis South Florida, oversees the company\u2019s four offices in South Florida at which 200 real estate professionals work. Prior to joining the company\u2014to which he brought fifteen years of senior-level leadership and management experience in creating and leading public-private partnerships and economic development at the federal and local levels\u2014he served as president and CEO of the quasi-public National Capital Revitalization Corporation (NCRC) in Washington, D.C. He earned a master’s in public administration from American University and a bachelor of science in foreign service from Georgetown University. <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n \n
\nStephen Flowers<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n Stephen Flowers<\/strong>, president of UPS\u2019 Am\u00e9ricas Region and an employee of UPS since 1981, is responsible for all UPS package and cargo operations in Canada and more than fifty countries and territories across Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to taking on the region\u2019s highest post, he was UPS\u2019s West Europe district manager, where he oversaw the company\u2019s operations in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Switzerland. A native of Canada, he has a diploma in business administration and, in 2002, completed the advanced management program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau. <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n \n
\nDana Nottingham<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n Dana Nottingham<\/strong>, executive director of the Miami Downtown Development (DDA) Authority, has 24 years of management and executive experience working on major retail and urban development projects. Before joining the Miami DDA, he worked as an independent consultant specializing in real estate and economic development, representing developers, cities, and non-profits working on major retail and redevelopment projects in ten metropolitan markets. He serves on several boards and is a member of the Urban Land Institute\u2019s South Florida Executive Committee. He has a bachelor\u2019s degree in architecture from Hampton University and a master\u2019s degree in city planning from MIT.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n \n
\nGuillermo Villar<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n Guillermo Villar<\/strong>, country manager (United States), International Operations, Mercantil Group, holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration from the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan and a master\u2019s degree in economics from Vanderbilt University. He is president and chief executive officer of Commercebank and also sits on the Board of Directors of Banco Mercantil (Schweiz), A.G. (Zurich), Banco Mercantil Venezolano (Curacao), and Banco del Centro (Panama).
