Elam<\/strong>,  executive dean of the college, was one of the speakers, along with <strong>Margie Arce<\/strong>, Miccosukee Indian School, teacher; <strong>Erin Ashby<\/strong>, area manager, Enterprise  Rent-A-Car; <strong>Margaret Brisbane<\/strong>, division director and member of the college&#8217;s Alumni Circle; Miami-Dade County  enterprise technology services division; <strong>Grisel  Fernandez<\/strong>, chief financial  officer, Unisa; <strong>Dr. Phyllis Kotey<\/strong>, clinical associate professor of law in  the university\u2019s College of Law; <strong>Jada  Phillabaum<\/strong>, Caterpillar, CRM  process manager; <strong>Sherry L. Ulsh<\/strong>,  executive director, Burger King McLamore Foundation; <strong>Mairanella Valera<\/strong>, president,  American Therapeutic; and <strong>Claudia  Vasquez<\/strong>, regional recruiting  supervisor, Enterprise Rent-A-Car.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/newsletters\/BusinessNetworks\/February2006\/images\/020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"408\" height=\"230\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe discussion gave me  an opportunity to get to know women who already are  making it in a different  industries,\u201d said <strong>Vanessa Coronado<\/strong>, a junior accounting major and president-elect of the FIU Accounting Association (FIU-AA), which co-sponsored the event along with Career Services, the Women\u2019s Studies Center, and the Women\u2019s Center. \u201cIt gave me hope; knowing that they\u2019re succeeding made me feel I can, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another attendee, <strong>Mariana  Runha<\/strong> (BA \u201904) works with teenage girls through Ayuda, an organization that helps under-served and\/or at-risk families in Miami-Dade County achieve self-sufficiency.
