Among the listeners: Gehisa Thompson, clinical business technology consultant, Baptist Health South Florida.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Center for Leadership and the office of <a href=\"https:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/executive-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Executive and Professional Education<\/a> in the College of Business Administration at Florida International University (FIU) developed and presented the four-day leadership program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Women on the Move\u2019 focuses on helping women identify their strengths and leveraging these for continuous personal and professional development,\u201d said <strong>Garth D. Headley<\/strong> (MS \u201907), director of programs, Center for Leadership.<\/p>\n<p><em>Current and future leaders share what it takes to soar professionally.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The program offered a packed agenda designed to provide a framework for discussing the unique challenges and choices women face as they take on leadership roles. The goal? Other activities included roundtable discussions led by <strong>Joyce J. Elam<\/strong>, executive dean, plus executive coaching seminars and sessions covering topics such as building strengths-based leadership models, managing work and connecting with others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really think the program is ideal for new managers with new or increased responsibilities who now find themselves having to manage people at all levels of the organization,\u201d said attendee Olga Corpion, executive director, human resources, Ingram Micro Inc. \u201cThe tools they\u2019ll acquire will be unbelievably useful for the success and progress of their careers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As more women move up the organizational ladder, they need to bring strong leadership skills along with them.
