{"id":8472,"date":"2010-07-01T09:54:35","date_gmt":"2010-07-01T13:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/?p=8472"},"modified":"2010-07-01T09:54:35","modified_gmt":"2010-07-01T13:54:35","slug":"college-now-offers-online-bba-to-non-florida-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/2010\/07\/college-now-offers-online-bba-to-non-florida-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"College now offers online BBA to non-Florida residents."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Demand for distance learning options in higher education programs continues to rise, making this an ideal time for the College of Business Administration to give non-Florida residents the opportunity to earn an <a href=\"http:\/\/bbaonline.fiu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">online BBA degree<\/a> from Florida International University (FIU).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8568\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8568\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/online-bba-thumb.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8568\" title=\"online-bba-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/online-bba-thumb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8568\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reginald Baptiste, a member of the FIU Online Support Services team, assists online students.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe newly launched program is available to students residing both nationwide and abroad,\u201d said <strong>Francesco De Marco<\/strong>, manager, FIU Online Program. \u201cWe believe our established relationships in the Caribbean and Central America will draw students interested in our top-ranked undergraduate business degree program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The plan of study comprises 120 credits, or approximately 40 courses. Majors are offered in finance, human resource management, international business and management.<\/p>\n<p>According to De Marco, the online degree program is structured similarly to the regular business degree program&#8212;with two exceptions: students admitted to the non-Florida resident program are admitted to FIU and their BBA major simultaneously. And elective courses are limited to both pre-major and major requirements.<\/p>\n<p><em>Program\u2019s value includes cost advantages and more.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe value of this program should be very appealing,\u201d De Marco said. \u201cWe\u2019re offering a business degree program that\u2019s accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and priced at a significant discount compared to our standard non-Florida resident tuition rate. What\u2019s more, our cost is highly competitive with other business schools inside and outside Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Social and traditional media campaigns spread the word.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The college is using social media channels such as Facebook and online banner ads&#8212;as well as search engine optimization for Bing, Google and Yahoo&#8212;to advertise the new online BBA offering.
