The view: Looking up when it comes to opportunities for second home and vacation home buyers in the sought out areas of the Downtown-Biscayne Boulevard corridor and the Beaches.<\/p>\n<p>So concluded the panel of real estate experts who presented to the more than 65 College of Business Administration alumni and students plus other real estate professionals attending the recent \u201cView from the Beaches\u201d event hosted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/business.fiu.edu\/alumni\/affinity_groups\/real_estate\/real_estate.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Real Estate Alumni Affinity Council<\/a> (REAAC) of Florida International University (FIU).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9739\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9739\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/REAAC-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9739\" title=\"REAAC-02\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/REAAC-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"325\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9739\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An enthusiastic group of more than 65 gathered for the recent REAAC-organized look at an important segment of the Miami real estate market: second and vacation homes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Speakers included Peter Zalewski, principal, Condo Vultures; Bob Waun, CEO, Vacation Home Finance; and Craig Werley, president, Focus Real Estate Advisors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wenceslao Fernandez Jr<\/strong>. (BBA \u201992), REAAC board member and associate realtor with Keller Williams Realty Miami Beach, moderated the event.<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>Dan Berkovitz<\/strong> (BBA \u201910), president, REAAC, the presenters addressed top-of-mind questions around demographics and other statistical data on the area\u2019s second home buyers as well as financing challenges and opportunities in today\u2019s marketplace.<\/p>\n<p><em>Event offers forum for latest FIU real estate program news.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Also on hand were <strong>Joyce J. Elam<\/strong>, executive dean of the business school; and <strong>William Hardin<\/strong>, director of the Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute and the college&#8217;s real estate programs, who addressed the group with news of the growth of alumni chapters such as REAAC and the expansion of graduate programs such as the Master of Science in International Real Estate, taught at the Downtown Center.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9740\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9740\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/REAAC-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9740\" title=\"REAAC-01\" src=\"https:\/\/biznews.fiu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/REAAC-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9740\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Joyce J. Elam<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Alex Morcate<\/strong> (MSIRE \u201908, MSF \u201908) is a fan of alumni-driven events like this one hosted by REAAC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe event provided more than just up-to-date information. It served as a forum to review what happened yesterday and discuss what could happen tomorrow,\u201d he said. \u201cThe event also provided a means to bridge the gap between students, alumni, faculty and professionals.
