A group of 18 undergraduate students and 28 graduate students became the newest members of FIU’s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) at the spring induction. BGS is considered the most prestigious national business honor society. Approximately 130 guests attended the induction ceremony and dinner, held on April 2, 2009.
Among the graduate student inductees were 13 from the International MBA (IMBA) program, seven of whom shared their observations about the program. From one who has a Chinese food blog to another who hopes to establish a solar business in Europe to another who has a global network of contacts-his classmates-programmed into his cell phone, these students are alike in their academic strength.
Interestingly, what they all praised about the program was the opposite of being alike: namely, its diversity. Hailing from China, India, Puerto Rico, Slovakia, Turkey, Venezuela, and the United States, they appreciate that the International MBA lives up to its name, that the program runs just one year and that it includes language study and a study-abroad.
