Sally M. Gallion, former assistant dean, communication and public relations in the College of Business Administration, died June 4, 2009 after a long illness.
During her twelve years at FIU, Gallion launched seven publications intended to bring the business school to greater national prominence and to strengthen relationships within the college. Spanning a monthly faculty and staff notes, a student-focused online newsletter and an annual report, Gallion’s work was characterized by a commitment to quality reflected in her keen eye for design and text and a dedication to accuracy. She also directed the college’s public relations work, maintaining relationships with the press to gain recognition for the school’s accomplishments.
Her daughter, Juanita; her mother; and two sisters survive. Plans for a memorial service at FIU are pending.
