U.S.News & World Report has released new rankings for online programs and the Alvah H. Chapman Graduate School of Business at Florida International University (FIU) placed in the top 100 in two categories: 19th in the Student Engagement and Accreditation category and 69th in Student Services and Technology.
In evaluating student engagement and accreditation, the publication highlighted that “The most reputable online business programs are AACSB accredited and make it easy to communicate with classmates and instructors, as professionals would in the business world.”
Summarizing its assessment of student services and technology, U.S.News noted, “Technological tools and services such as live tutoring, online simulations, and specialized apps can help students earn their online business degrees.”
College has long-standing involvement with online courses.
“We have been committed to online programs from the time FIU began offering them,” said Joyce J. Elam, executive dean of the College of Business Administration and dean of University College, of which FIU Online is part. “The business school launched a pilot project consisting of ten online courses in 1999 and has continued to expand those options and enrich the use of technology ever since, not only for the college but also across the university.”
The business school currently offers 21 graduate online courses and 64 undergraduate online courses.
In 2009, the college launched the fully-online Corporate MBA. There are 575 students enrolled and 349 individuals have already completed the 18-month program. In the fall of 2012, the graduate school will begin three new online programs: the Master in International Business (MIB), the Master of Science in International Real Estate (MSIRE) and the Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM).
“We are pleased to gain recognition for our online graduate programs, especially in the two categories in which U.S.News singled out our excellence,” Elam said.
