Clinical associate professor, Nancy Borkowski’s article titled “Continuing Professional Development—Learning is a Lifelong Process” was published in the January/February 2013 issue of Florida Medical Business.
Gloria Deckard, associate professor, and Monica Chiarini Tremblay, assistant professor, were awarded two grants. Deckard is principal investigator for a $228,000 grant titled “Evaluating Medicaid reform as a deterrent to Medicaid fraud,” funded by the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA). Tremblay will serve as principal investigator for a $218,443 grant titled “Demonstrating business practices and value of the direct project,” funded by the Office of the Coordinator for Health IT. Debra VanderMeer, associate professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, is a co-investigator on both grants.
George Marakas, visiting professor, has been invited to speak to the Naval Warfare Development Command in May 2013. His presentation is titled “Atoms, Molecules, Digits, and Bits”; he also will be involved in several briefings related to recent technology-related innovations already in place. He has had a chapter focused on computer self-efficacy accepted in the forthcoming Computer Science Handbook’s three-volume Computing Handbook set.

Jerry Haar, professor and research fellow, was featured in an article titled “Entrepreneurial Ecosystem,” which appeared in the February 2013 issue of Florida Trend.
Nathan Hiller, associate professor and Knight Ridder Center Research Fellow, is a visiting scholar at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, Seattle. He has been appointed to the editorial board at The Leadership Quarterly; he also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Psychology.
Sumit K. Kundu, professor and James K. Batten Eminent Scholar Chair in International Business, was an expert panelist at the “Global Strategies for an Emergent India” conference, which took place December 27-28, 2012. He was invited by the Indian Institute of Management in Kozhikode, the conference co-host with the University of Sydney Business School.
“The Limits to Outsourcing: Beware of the Consequences for Market Success!,” co-authored by Ronaldo Parente, associate professor, was published in The World Financial Review.

“The Other Side of Natural Disasters . . . expect lenders’ concern over collateral damage and loss of income stream,” an article by Suzanne Hollander, visiting instructor, was published in the January 2013 issue of the National Scotsman Guide.
Ken H. Johnson, associate professor and Tibor and Sheila Hollo Research Fellow, was quoted extensively in “What a Picture’s Worth” in the Wall Street Journal on January 10, 2013. He was also quoted in “Florida leads nation in foreclosure activity in 2012,” published in the Palm Beach Post on January 17, 2013.
