Students in the Healthcare MBA (HCMBA) program in the College of Business at Florida International University (FIU) won the 2013 South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum’s (SFHEF) student case competition, earning regional recognition and a $1,000 award.
This year’s event, held on March 23rd at the Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, focused on physician leadership issues. The winners were announced during the SFHEF’s educational program on March 28th at Memorial Regional Hospital.
Team members Brenda Holmann, Juan Jaramillo, Haoxuan Liang, Ricardo Rincon, Marexis Toca and Eduardo Villatoro were mentored by Angela Burrafato, medical director for Aetna’s South Florida region and former associate medical director for Jackson Health System.
Judges included Joe Rogers, COO, Pediatric Associates; Ira Agatstein, a physician leader at Larkin Community Hospital; and Dianne Goldenberg, CEO of Aventura Medical Center.
