August, 2013 marked the first graduating class of the Professional MBA Flex program of Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Business.
Thirty-three students were in this hallmark class for summer commencement; 12 additional students in the same cohort are completing their final courses for the degree.
This inaugural class began their studies in August, 2011. Offered at FIU Downtown on Brickell in the heart of Miami’s financial district, the Professional MBA Flex program allows professionals to earn their MBA in as little as 24 months while continuing to work. Through an innovative “blended-learning” format that combines online and in-person classes, students meet in a classroom setting just once a week.
In addition to participating in the university commencement events on August 6, the graduating class also held a celebration for themselves and guests on August 9 at the Rusty Pelican restaurant in Key Biscayne.
Class Representative Rolando Barrios was named by the faculty as the Most Outstanding Student and was given the Exceptional Leadership award by classmates.
