A paper that Helen K. Simon, senior instructor, wrote for the Retirement Income Industry Association was profiled and quoted extensively in the Chicago Tribune article “How do investing habits change as retirement nears?” by Janet Kidd Stewart, published on March 13, 2014. The article also appeared in the Miami Herald.

Ronaldo Parente, associate professor, organized and participated in a plenary session at the at the Academy of International Business Latin America in Medellin, Colombia on March 20-22, 2014. The topic was “Alternative Approaches for Online Teaching.”
Seema Pissaris, professor, participated in the Entrepreneurship Learning Session: Social Entrepreneurship during the Business Plan Competition event at Florida Atlantic University on March 28, 2014.
An article co-authored by Hock-Peng Sin, assistant professor, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Applied Psychology, one of the top journals in the Financial Times journal list. The article is entitled “Small sample mediation testing: Misplaced confidence in bootstrapped confidence intervals.”

Walried Lassar, professor and Ryder Research Professor, guest-lectured at Munich Business School during their International Week, March 24-28, 2014. Lassar’s topic was “Global Brand Building through Marketing Adaptation – Conceptual and Practical Issues for International Markets.”
Paul Miniard, professor and Alexandra Aguirre Rodriguez, assistant professor, have had an article they co-authored, “The impact of consumer avatars in Internet retailing on self-congruity,” accepted for publication in Marketing Letters.
Kimberly A. Taylor, associate professor and Macy’s Retailing Chair, received two awards, the Distinguished Course Award from FIU Online for creative use of tools to engage students and the Quality Matters certification, for MAR 4354, Marketing Yourself.
