FIU president Mark Rosenberg, joined by students, faculty and senior vice president of external relations Sandra Gonzalez-Levy, rallied outside the university at SW 8th St. and 107 Ave. to personally thank Miami-Dade voters for approving FIU’s expansion. By an overwhelming majority, voters paved the way for FIU to expand onto 64 acres in Tamiami Park that are currently occupied by the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition. Possible uses for the land are: academic space, including the College of Engineering and Computing; research space; academic health center space; an incubator to support entrepreneurship; student housing and other support space.
