A new College of Business student group will use its introductory meeting to highlight eMerge Americas, the global tech conference coming to Miami this May.
The Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement’s new FIU Chapter will host “eMerge into the Movement” on April 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. in room 155 of the College of Business Complex (CBC).
Student participation in eMerge will be the focus as Giraldo Gutierrez, chief operating officer of eMerge, and David Anon, the organization’s vice president of marketing, speak about how students can participate as entrepreneurs and job candidates in the second annual global conference, taking place May 1-5.
David Dooley, president and founder of the FIU chapter, will also discuss the goals of the new group. The Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement links students with an online network of mentors, who reinforce career development skills students acquire at the university. “We also want to serve as another voice that encourages students to take advantage of all the opportunities and events offered by FIU and the city of Miami.” said Dooley.
As a student group focused on national networking and advancement, “we identified with eMerge’s message of creating a network of game-changers, and we wanted to make students aware of this incredible opportunity,” he added.
