Florida International University hosted the Greater Miami Society of Human Resource Management’s (GMSHRM) second annual HR Career Development Day. This year’s event attracted 120 graduate and undergraduate students not only from FIU but also from other universities. It was one-third larger that last year’s conference.
“Human resources professionals presented nine different seminars, compared to six held last year,” said Marc Weinstein, professor in the Department of Management & International Business at the College of Business. “Additionally, eight professionals, including four coaches from the International Coaching Federation, conducted one-on-one sessions coaching sessions for 42 of the attendees. The day was jam-packed with valuable information for the students.”
Weinstein said that the FIU is already planning next year’s event and GMSHRM anticipates complementing the career development and coaching sessions with a job fair to help HR students obtain internships and full-time positions in human resources.
