John Nykolaiszyn has been appointed interim director of the College of Business’ Career Management Services (CMS), taking over the position immediately. Until now, he was CMS’ associate director.
A career expert, Nykolaiszyn also brings more than a decade of corporate experience to his new role. Prior to joining FIU in 2010, he held senior recruiting and human resources roles at Burger King Corporation and Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).
“John understands the needs of employers as well as those of our students,” said Sara Lipman, executive director of operations & strategic initiatives at the College of Business’ Office of the Dean.
She pointed out that Nykolaiszyn is a nationally recognized thought leader and influencer in social recruiting, social human resources and best practices in college recruiting. During his tenure in CMS, he has attracted many Fortune 500 companies to recruit FIU College of Business students.
“John has been instrumental in many of the successes of the CMS Office and is fully prepared to lead this critical endeavor,” said Lipman.
Additionally, Nykolaiszyn is an adjunct professor at FIU, teaching components of the HR certificate program and the SHRM Certification test prep courses for the College of Business’ Executive and Professional Education program. He also counsels the Master of Science in Human Resources students
An FIU alumnus, Nykolaiszyn obtained a BBA in Management in 1986 and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from Barry University. He also holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society of Human Resources Professionals Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
