Walfried M. Lassar, Ph.D., Ryder Systems Professor and Professor of Marketing, has been named Associate Dean of the Chapman Graduate School of Business. He takes over the new role immediately.
A 15-year College of Business veteran, Dr. Lassar has taught in the Executive, Global, Professional and Healthcare MBA programs, as well as the IMBA and MIB programs. He also helped develop the Executive MBA programs. He was chair of the Marketing Department for five years, and director of the Ryder Center for Supply Chain Management from 2007 to 2014.
During his tenure at FIU, Dr. Lassar has lectured at conferences including Munich Business School’s International Week, where he addressed global brand building and marketing. He led the College of Business’ Marketing Roundtable Series, hosted by the Department of Marketing and the Dean’s Alumni Circle. At the 2012 Inter-American Supply Chain Forum, held at FIU, Dr. Lassar focused on “Supply Chain Management Analytics: Driving Latin American Companies to the Next Performance Level.”
“Dr. Lassar has led the development of various innovative programs for College of Business students, working closely with our faculty and our community,” said Jose Aldrich, acting dean of FIU’s College of Business. “He will bring his leadership and expertise to further enhancing our well-regarded graduate programs.”
Dr. Lassar joined FIU after a 13-year business career, in which he served in various marketing and management positions in the U.S. and Europe. He earned his Ph.D. and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California in 1992 and 1985, respectively.
