The Master of Science in International Real Estate (MSIRE) program at FIU Business’ Hollo School of Real Estate has been accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), a worldwide organization for professionals in property, land, construction and related environmental issues.
It’s a new mark of distinction for the program. FIU Business is now one of just four universities in the U.S. with RICS-accredited real estate programs, joining Columbia University, New York University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, plus University of British Columbia in Canada.
“We’ve known for some time now that our MSIRE program is one of the top in the U.S., but this serves as another stamp of approval,” said Eli Beracha, director of the Hollo School of Real Estate at FIU. “Clearly, we are in great company.”
As part of the accreditation process, RICS academics and employers evaluated the Hollo School of Real Estate’s program, checking for certain criteria including an appropriate curriculum that covered all the credits required for students to become appraisers and that had the resources necessary to execute.
“Our high-quality faculty is what allowed us to get accredited by RICS,” Beracha said. “The RICS accreditation team was very impressed by the research productivity of our faculty and how ‘student centric’ they are.”
MSIRE students now receive free membership in RICS, which includes opportunities to network with industry leaders and RICS professionals, Beracha noted. Additionally, graduates will have a streamlined pathway to the RICS credentialing process, bypassing the five years of relevant experience typically required by the organization.
“The accreditation shows employers that the Hollo School’s curriculum, faculty and students meet RICS’ rigorous standards in academics, professionalism and ethical conduct,” said Beracha.
The MSIRE program was launched in 2006 and has grown into national prominence and is shaping the next generation of real estate leaders. The FIU Business Hollo School of Real Estate offers graduate, undergraduate, dual degree and online degree programs
