The Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) has re-accredited Florida International University’s Healthcare MBA program in the College of Business with a full seven-year accreditation, the highest for a program of its kind.
FIU’s CAHME accreditation applies to both the on-campus Healthcare MBA, with classes in Miami and Miramar, FL, and the online Healthcare MBA – the only CAHME-accredited online MBA program in the state of Florida, and one of only two Healthcare MBA programs accredited by both CAHME and AACSB.
“Our focus on the business of healthcare, coupled with our unique professional development opportunities within the curriculum, has made the Healthcare MBA an outstanding choice for professionals and leaders at many levels,” said Jose Aldrich, acting dean of FIU’s College of Business. He noted that the program’s full accreditation serves as a strong validation of the hard work of the program’s faculty and staff. The healthcare program was initially accredited in 2013 for three years.
The Healthcare MBA is designed for early- to mid-career professionals in the healthcare industry who seek a greater capacity for decision-making and leadership positions in the rapidly changing healthcare environment. Both in-person and online programs are designed for working professionals who want to continue full-time employment during their coursework.
Innovation and opportunities at its core.
In addition to world-class faculty, the program offers a broad range of courses and initiatives designed to prepare students for high-level professional and leadership roles. These include a Lean Six Sigma certification, a unique Business Analytics certificate powered by IBM’s Watson, a Global Study Abroad Program with an Advanced Certificate in Global Healthcare Administration, and a series of academic and professional residencies. In 2016, the program was ranked #1 by Modern Healthcare on its list of largest business graduate schools for physician executives.
“Our home base in Miami allows us to tap the insights of healthcare leaders who are developing solutions to some of the nation’s most complex challenges,” said Miriam Weismann, academic director of FIU’s Healthcare MBA. “Thanks to our online program, we can extend this expertise beyond the local community, enabling these students and alumni to impact the healthcare industry regionally and even nationally. This is a huge point of differentiation for our program.”
