FIU Business this fall welcomes nine new faculty members with expertise ranging from international finance, global corporate strategy and insider trading to technology selection and adoption.
Silver Chung joins FIU Business’s School of Accounting as an assistant professor after earning her PhD from the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business. Her research focuses on the determinants and consequences of voluntary disclosures, the effect of regulatory intervention on disclosure and real decisions and the effect of market microstructure on corporate disclosure. Pablo Simon joins FIU Business as an accounting instructor. Simon, who has more than 25 years of experience in setting up and directing accounting systems, auditing coordination and financial reporting and analysis, was most recently an assistant professor of accounting at FIU’s School of Hospitality Management. He has two master’s degrees from FIU and two master’s degrees from the University of Miami.
The Department of Finance welcomes Dallin Alldredge and Minho Wang, both as assistant professors. Alldredge joins the department from Washington State University’s Carson College of Business, where he was an assistant professor of finance since 2015. Alldredge, whose research interests include empirical investments and insider trading, earned his PhD from the University of Tennessee’s Haslem College of Business. Wang, whose research interests include international finance, asset pricing, risk management and foreign exchange rates, joins the department after earning his PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Scheller College of Business.
Miguel Aguirre-Urreta joins the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics as a visiting associate professor. He comes from Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business Administration, where he was a tenured assistant professor of information systems and quantitative sciences. Aguirre-Urreta, whose research interests include systems analysis and design, technology selection and adoption, organizational consequences of IT, technology use and performance effects, and research methodology, earned his PhD from the University of Kansas School of Business.
The Department of International Business welcomes two new assistant professors, Orhun Guldiken and Danielle Jones. Guldiken, who was most recently an assistant professor of management at Manhattan College’s School of Business, focuses his research on global corporate strategy, international entrepreneurship, corporate governance and top management teams. He earned his PhD from Old Dominion University’s Strome College of Business. Jones’ research interests include external institutional environments (regulatory environments in particular), foreign subsidiary formation, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and foreign direct investment in emerging economies, among others. Jones joins FIU Business after earning her Phd from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Two seasoned business leaders join the Department of Marketing and Logistics as visiting instructors. Nicolo Alaimo comes to the college with extensive worldwide experience in sales, marketing and services. He served in leadership positions at Hewlett Packard for more than 20 years, most recently as vice president, global field enablement, HP Software Field Organization. He holds an MBA from the University of Miami. Andrew Yap is now a visiting instructor after serving as an adjunct instructor at the college since 1997. He has served in executive leadership positions for nearly 25 years at health food products and logistics company LEASA Industries, most recently as president and CEO. Yap holds an MBA from FIU.
