Dear members of the university community:
FIU is closed and all classes are canceled through Tuesday, Sept. 3. 2019, as parts of South Florida remain under tropical storm watches and warnings.
There are limited food venue operations: 8th Street Campus Kitchen and Market at Breezeway will be open at MMC. Only assigned essential personnel will need to report to work prior to the official reopening. Supervisors will contact essential employees who need to come back on Tuesday.
Please continue monitoring news media reports and look for official university communication through email and on social media channels regarding operations the rest of the week
Dorian is one of the strongest hurricanes on record and it is currently bearing down on the Bahamas. We still don’t know the full effects of the hurricane on the Bahamas or how it will impact our fellow Floridians and others up the east coast.
The university is activating FIUstrong to help assist FIU students, faculty and staff who may be experiencing hardship as a result of Dorian’s ravaging effects.

If you are personally impacted by Dorian please do not hesitate to ask for help. Write to FIUstrong@fiu.edu and let us know how FIU can help you.
